Description
What is upper cervical specific chiropractic?
The purpose of upper cervical specific chiropractic care is to return the entire nervous system to a natural state of health and to reduce pain, muscle spasms, and nerve irritation. Dr. McKnight-Whitford uses several gentle techniques to help you achieve your health goals including: QSM3 (Quantum Spinal Mechanics 3), NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association), torque release, Cox flexion/distraction, and MC2. Each adjustment is gentle and tailored specifically to the needs of your body.
Who do we care for?
Dr. McKnight-Whitford has had experience helping individuals with many different types of symptoms and conditions including: Neck pain, low back pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, disc degeneration, nerve pain, TMJ pain, torticollis, concussion, and more. She also has a special interest in caring for perinatal and pediatric individuals.
Experienced Knowledge
Dr. McKnight-Whitford was born and raised in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. She earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of New Brunswick before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa where she graduated Salutatorian of her class. It was there where she developed a passion for a more gentle approach to chiropractic care. Since her graduation she has worked in upper cervical chiropractic clinics in both Vancouver and Halifax gaining both experience and knowledge from some of the best upper cervical chiropractors in the country. Dr. McKnight-Whitford moved back to St. Stephen because she wanted to bring a different type of chiropractic to the community she grew up loving.
Spinal Decompression
In addition to upper cervical specific chiropractic care we also offer a conservative spinal decompression technique using a custom made flexion/distraction table. Spinal decompression can help alleviate symptoms in the low back and lower extremities like: pain, tingling, numbness, pins/needles, weakness, and unsteadiness.
X-ray and Cold Laser Therapy
At our clinic we take x-rays to help better diagnose and educate each practice member as to what is going on in their body and how we can better address the symptom. We also utilize a modality called cold laser therapy. Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive wavelength of light that helps to decrease the healing time and pain associated with many chronic and acute conditions.
Cervical Traction
Our clinic offers three separate units for cervical traction. This allows for various treatment methods for different symptoms and conditions. People who benefit from cervical traction often have symptoms that include neck pain, tingling or numbness in hands or arms, and muscle stiffness.
