Docs on the Bay Veterinary

Veterinarians in St Andrews NB

Friendly & Compassionate Care For Your Pets – Veterinarians in St. Andrews NB

Docs on the Bay Veterinary Services is a practice founded on the desire to provide excellent veterinary care with superior client service in a workplace where team members can flourish. What better place to do this than beautiful St. Andrews by the Sea! We are committed to being excellent caregivers, responsible citizens and sustainably minded.

Wellness Exams
Annual wellness exams are an integral part of your pet’s ongoing veterinary care. We are often able to identify subclinical issues before they become serious and discuss various preventative medicine options such as flea & tick prevention, behaviour issues and nutrition. Wellness exams are fundamental in building a positive experience for your pet. Ask us how we can help if your pet is nervous in these situations!

Vaccinations
Vaccination protocols change relative to your pets age and specific risk factors. Core vaccines are recommended for all pets but yours may require additional coverage depending on your lifestyle and exposure to wildlife or other pets. Ask us about a puppy or kitten package for those newest family members to take the guesswork out of costs and visits.

Sick Visits
Docs on the Bay offers onsite diagnostics including digital radiography, ultrasound, onsite blood testing and works with a variety of referral specialists to ensure your pet receives the level of care pet owners have come to expect.

House Calls
House calls make life easier for a variety of reasons and we are pleased to be able to provide this service for routine visits and end of life care when needed.

Telehealth Visits
COVID has made virtual veterinary care a valuable tool and we are able to provide this service when appropriate such as post-surgery checkups, behavioural consultations and follow-ups. Clients must have been seen in the clinic within the past 12 months for this option under current regulations. If we can manage this level of technology, rest assured you can too!

Routine Surgery
Our doctors have decades of experience performing routine soft tissue surgeries including spays and neuters. Pets are examined prior, receive pre and post-surgery pain medication and are monitored consistently by our trained technicians.

Dentistry
As with humans, oral care is paramount to ageing well and minimizing inflammation in the body. We offer full dental radiographs, ultrasonic cleaning and surgical extractions with post-operative pain packages.

Emergency Services
Docs on the Bay is part of the Charlotte County on-call cooperative with St George and Mayfield Veterinary Clinics to ensure emergency veterinary services are available to your pet at all times. When calling the clinic for an after-hours emergency you will be directed to the clinic on call. All clinics work together to ensure records are transferred to the clinic of choice for any follow-up care.

What is upper cervical specific chiropractic?
The purpose of upper cervical specific chiropractic care is to return the entire nervous system to a natural state of health and to reduce pain, muscle spasms, and nerve irritation. Dr. McKnight-Whitford uses several gentle techniques to help you achieve your health goals including: QSM3 (Quantum Spinal Mechanics 3), NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association), torque release, Cox flexion/distraction, and MC2. Each adjustment is gentle and tailored specifically to the needs of your body.

Who do we care for?
Dr. McKnight-Whitford has had experience helping individuals with many different types of symptoms and conditions including: Neck pain, low back pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, disc degeneration, nerve pain, TMJ pain, torticollis, concussion, and more. She also has a special interest in caring for perinatal and pediatric individuals.

Experienced Knowledge
Dr. McKnight-Whitford was born and raised in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. She earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of New Brunswick before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa where she graduated Salutatorian of her class. It was there where she developed a passion for a more gentle approach to chiropractic care. Since her graduation she has worked in upper cervical chiropractic clinics in both Vancouver and Halifax gaining both experience and knowledge from some of the best upper cervical chiropractors in the country. Dr. McKnight-Whitford moved back to St. Stephen because she wanted to bring a different type of chiropractic to the community she grew up loving.

Spinal Decompression
In addition to upper cervical specific chiropractic care we also offer a conservative spinal decompression technique using a custom made flexion/distraction table. Spinal decompression can help alleviate symptoms in the low back and lower extremities like: pain, tingling, numbness, pins/needles, weakness, and unsteadiness.

X-ray and Cold Laser Therapy
At our clinic we take x-rays to help better diagnose and educate each practice member as to what is going on in their body and how we can better address the symptom. We also utilize a modality called cold laser therapy. Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive wavelength of light that helps to decrease the healing time and pain associated with many chronic and acute conditions.

Cervical Traction
Our clinic offers three separate units for cervical traction. This allows for various treatment methods for different symptoms and conditions. People who benefit from cervical traction often have symptoms that include neck pain, tingling or numbness in hands or arms, and muscle stiffness.
