Brian Richardson Cabinetmaker

Brian Richardson Cabinetmaker

For those of you who don’t know me that well or at all, I’ve been a general carpenter and cabinetmaker for 20 years. I’ve worked mainly for Dale Richardson (my father with 45 years experience) here in the St. Stephen, NB area. I’ve also worked for Classic Woodworking here in St. Stephen for about a year, a commercial millwork shop in Saint John for 2 years, and another shop outside of Sussex that makes barrel-style saunas and hot tubs with western red cedar. I’ve been back in the St. Stephen area for about 5 years now and despite this area being rather unstable, we have been quite busy thankfully.

My business is located just outside of St. Stephen. I want to cater mainly Charlotte County, the Saint John area, and the Fredericton area and focus specifically on custom cabinetry, furniture, and other custom finish work projects.

As you will see in my photo album, I can make a wide variety of projects and am not afraid to take on more challenging tasks that a lot of people can’t or won’t do. We have a shop with virtually every tool imaginable for doing pretty much anything and many tools can be adapted to do even more tasks. My favorite project so far has to be the floor medallions. I have had a ton of positive feedback on those and my clients love them.

When I have time, I will even make a few smaller items to sell and advertise them directly on this page. I also make it a stern policy to use very little particleboard in anything I make. I mainly use a combination of real wood boards and wood-veneer plywood.

We also now have a spray booth so we can end up with a better and smoother finish on our projects. We do latex/hybrid paint finishes and latex/oil varathane finishes primarily.

Nature Trust of New Brunswick

nature trust of new brunswick

The Nature Trust of New Brunswick is a charitable land conservation organization which focuses on conserving and stewarding private land and engaging New Brunswickers about the importance of protecting our province’s unique natural heritage and biodiversity.

Since 1987, we conserved over 8,000 acres (3,200 hectares) of ecologically significant land in more than 60 beautiful and diverse nature preserves throughout the province.

New Brunswick is a bountiful province, with stunning landscapes and various ecosystems of forest, coastline, and waterways. We protect unique natural areas in New Brunswick, spectacular spaces of pristine, scenic beauty, some which shelter rare, endangered species of flora and fauna. It is the Nature Trust’s mandate to steward these lands while maintaining healthy ecosystems, biodiversity and preserving native species.

We partner with individuals, landowners, community groups, non-profit organizations, indigenous groups, businesses, and government departments at all levels to protect New Brunswick’s natural spaces. We establish nature preserves through land or donations, purchases, conservation easement agreements, other legal interests in land, and manage them in perpetuity.

By acquiring conservation lands and by working with our communities, donors and volunteers, to encourage responsible stewardship, we ensure that these spaces are preserved. This means New Brunswickers have access to natural spaces and hiking trails, the ability to get away and reconnect with the outdoors, and the opportunity to teach future generations about the importance of nature.

Visit the ‘Preserves’ page to explore the over 60 properties we currently conserve.

We take a science-based and strategic approach to identifying and acquiring private lands by using the best available conservation science and data, while remaining flexible to ensure responsiveness as conservation opportunities arise.

We are forward-thinking and know that the safeguarding of natural spaces benefits current and future generations by enhancing their quality of life with intact and healthy ecosystems where people can experience a connection with nature.

We strive to collaborate and build partnerships with all sectors, including landowners, government, the private sector, other non-governmental organizations, cultural organizations, academic institutions, communities, and individuals. This enables us to strengthen our capacity, leverage our limited resources, and engage as many partners as possible in conservation and stewardship.

We appreciate and support diversity on a number of levels, including the diversity of all living things and the conservation of habitat for biodiversity to thrive, but also the inclusivity of all human beings.

We embrace creativity and new ideas that help us to further our mission to conserve, steward, and educate and strive to apply innovative approaches to all of our projects and programs.

Watercourse and Wetland Alteration

NB Watercourse and Wetland Alteration

Overview

The purpose of the Watercourse and Wetland Alteration Regulation (90-80)Clean Water Act is to protect provincial streams, rivers, wetlands, and lakes from work or ground disturbance in their vicinity.

Eligibility

Any person intending to do work (construction, demolition, clearing land, landscaping, etc.) within 30 metres of a watercourse or wetland.

Description

The online application program has been developed to help guide you to the proper permit application based on your answers to a series of site and activity specific questions. There are two types of permits available:

The provisional permits deal with alterations (activities) that pose a potentially low level of environmental risk and can typically be carried out with a standard set of conditions of approval. The process time for a provisional permit can be up to ten (10) days.

The second type of permit available is the standard permit, which is intended for projects of a more significant nature and potentially represents a higher risk to the environment. These projects require a more comprehensive review and the establishment of site/project specific conditions of approval. The process time for a standard permit can be up to eight (8) weeks.

CMHC

CMHC Canada Mortgage and Housing

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is Canada’s national housing agency.

What does CMHC do?

CMHC exists for a single reason: to make housing affordable for everyone in Canada. We know that housing helps people stay employed, do better in school and participate more fully in society. Housing affordability and a stable housing finance system support a stronger, safer Canada where everyone can live with dignity.

Affordable housing for all is an ambitious goal, and we can’t do it alone. We’re mobilizing the expertise and energy of governments, non-profits, lenders, developers, social entrepreneurs and co-ops to create the future of housing. Canada’s first-ever National Housing Strategy is just one example. Together, we’re removing barriers to ensure that no one is left behind.
